How To Find Key Moments In YouTube Videos Via Google Search

September 22, 2019
1

In today’s digital world, YouTube is the world’s most popular video-sharing platform; always trying to bring something new to the table – so you can enjoy the latest music videos, upload original content, and share it all with a massive audience.

To make YouTube more pragmatic, Google is rolling out a new feature to help users find specific content in any YouTube videos through its search engine.

So, now if you want to find the exact moment of a punchline or a specific content of a tutorial, you don’t need to watch the whole video clip.

The new feature will require YouTube content creators to provide the necessary timestamps of their videos, describing the specific parts in the video description.

According to Google, it will allow users to quickly scan to find whether a video has what they’re looking for, without having to sit and watch the whole video.

“When you search for things like how-to videos that have multiple steps, or long videos like speeches or a documentary, Search will provide links to key moments within the video, based on timestamps provided by content creators.

You’ll be able to easily scan to see whether a video has what you’re looking for, and find the relevant section of the content. For people who use screen readers, this change also makes video content more accessible,” Google’s product manager Prashant Baheti wrote in a blog post on Tuesday.

Here is the example of a Podcast tutorial where you can see a new “In this video” timeline with “specific key moments” marked by Google even before you start watching the whole thing.

Below “In this video” timeline, there’s a set of small video clips with brief video descriptions that can be tapped to immediately navigate to specific points within a video.

If the creator provides the timestamp and labels information inside the video description then Key Moments will appear, but only for the English videos uploaded on YouTube. Here are numerous guidelines that you should follow while formatting labels and timestamps for your video description.

  • Make sure to format the timestamp in the set format – [Hour] : [Minute] : [Seconds].
  • Set every timestamp on the new line in your video description.
  • Give the label of the timestamp on a similar line.
  • Ensure that the label includes at least one or two words.
  • Link the timestamp to the particular point in the video.
  • Always lists the timestamp in sequential order in the description.

According to the Company, this new feature will not only make it easy to find specific key moments in YouTube videos but will also make video content more accessible for people using screen readers.

So, if you want to be a part of a beta program to test this new feature with other video providers, then Google has a form for you.

To enable the ‘Key Moments’ feature for your videos, here are the Google Form and Developer Docs where you can register to join the Early Adopters Program.

Windows 10X: Everything You Need to Know About Microsoft’s New Dual-Screen OS

February 12, 2020
0

Last year in October, Microsoft announced some news regarding the dual-screen Surface Neo and a very special OS. This special OS, known as Windows 10X will be running on upcoming dual-screen devices like Surface Neo, ThinkPad X1 Fold, and other similar products announced at the CES 2020.

Windows 10X is a bit different than Windows 10 and is definitely not an update. It is heavily re-engineered, has modern looks and has been designed specifically for devices with dual screens.

Price & Launch Date:

Windows 10X is a new expression of Windows 10 catering to some special dual-screen devices. This is not your regular OTA update or something that you can get from the store.

This new expression of Windows will come pre-installed on dual-screen devices including ThinkPad X1 Fold and Surface Neo.

Microsoft has not announced anything about the release date and price of these dual-screen devices. But we can expect a launch event somewhere in the fourth quarter. The company may also launch 10x along with these two devices.

What’s Windows 10X Tagging Along?

  • There are tons of new features that this Windows will tag along. Out of the blue, there will be two screens, tons of display settings, better battery for optimal support, faster response times, quick access to multiple tools and other useful shortcuts.
  • In addition to this, there are two new unique elements that define the factor of superiority. These devices will have two screens.
  • When the keyboard on a Windows 10X is flipped to rest on the bottom part of another device, the rest of the screen becomes the ‘wonder screen’ of the device.
  • The new start menu is redesigned to offer the ease of productivity to artists, graphic designers, image developers and many more. There is a search bar at the top of the menu and this has eliminated all the live tiles.
  • Unlike Windows 10, the live tiles are replaced by a list of static icons, frequently used applications and recommendations. These recommendations are updated dynamically.
  • In addition to this, the taskbar and Action Center are another new feature in Windows 10X. OS is built keeping in mind the dynamic response from the user.
  • This special Taskbar can adapt to changes from the user. In short, the taskbar will have more features to display the apps and programs.
  • Zac Bowden, the senior editor at Windows Central reported that whenever Windows 10X detects a mouse being plugged and the Windows 10X OS will behave more like Windows 10.
  • The Action Center will be more simplified in Windows 10X. It will include a number of sliders and rockers to adjust brightness and sound. It will come with rounded corners and edges making it look more premium and glass-like.
  • Other areas where Microsoft improved a lot on the features including the Welcome screen. Here the user will find more dynamic wallpapers unique file explorer that will plug directly to OneDrive.
  • WIndows 10X will handle updates in a dynamic way. Update downloads and installation will take less than 90 seconds and the entire OS will run in read-only mode.
  • Programs that change the system data, will not be supported in the Windows 10X environment.

Microsoft has also said that Windows 10X the most important feature will be how applications use the dual screens of Surface Neo. It also says that developers will not have to work on optimizing the application as the apps will adapt to use the dual screens.

It will be pretty nice to see the apps adapting to use single and double screen modes to give the users a better taste of productivity and efficiency.

Having said that, we know how adaptive and dynamic the screen is. This is going to open a whole new bunch of opportunities for graphic designers, image curators and people who multitask.

Windows Core is the system that works on the unique design of Windows 10X. Core OS has also been implemented for other expressions of Windows like Xbox, Surface Hub 2, HoloLens 2 and many more.

There had been a commotion regarding the success rate if Microsoft installed Windows 10 on them. Therefore there was a need to implement Core OS.

With Microsoft’s first foldable, dynamic and adaptive dual-screen device, Windows 10X was designed to use the potential of dual-screen devices at maximum level.

It is also a fact that Windows 10X will not be an update to the current version of Windows 10. In addition to this, users who want to experience Windows 10X will have to get their hands on dual-screen devices like Surface Neo and ThinkPad X1 Fold.

It is still unknown whether there will be any device that rivals Windows 10 powered solutions like Surface Pro and others. Provided that the market of Windows 10 is booming nicely and set to hit the mark of 1 billion devices, it is highly unlikely that the OS will be dead any sooner.

Apple, Yandex Initiate a Rollout Against Browsers' Vulnerabilities

Apple, Yandex Initiate a Rollout Against Browsers’ Vulnerabilities

Years have passed and fraudulent practices over online platforms still remain unshakeable. In a long span of phishing, it has conquered some way or another to remain low-key and cheer the attackers up for stealing passwords and revealing other sorts of personal information.

Since the online fraud is widely acknowledged by common users, the best that could be done by them is to save their privacy by reading between the lines. Such online frauds have recently been found teasing the major browsers with fake web addresses, as disclosed by the Rafay Baloch.

Mainstream Mobile Browsers in the Trap

Security Researcher Rafay Baloch, accompanied by Tod Beardsley (research director of Rapid7) has recently given users a warning sign against the vulnerable nature of some of most preferred and widely used browsers. As a common user, the most effective way to save oneself from the swindles is to test the magnify the web address that is put into the browser’s address bar and ensure its legality.

But what if the browsers with anti-fraudulent qualities that you’ve been so relying on in the matter of telling danger from what’s safe are themselves victimized by phishing?

As found by Rafay Baloch, some of the largely used mobile browsers possess enough vulnerabilities to yield down before online attacks. To name, these browsers count Safari by Apple, Opera and Yandex. The trick is: An attacker can deceive the browser into showing a totally different web address in place of the website a user is supposed to be on.

This online trap is laid at the time when a vulnerable browser loads. The bugs put the malicious web address in the address bar replacing the genuine one as an attacker picks while the page loads. Shockingly, such fake web addresses display security padlock and thus, try to reason their authenticity.

Take of Apple and Yandex and Other Browsers

Till the day, Apple and Yandex are seen as the only ones in the list to accentuate the solutions in September and October. As far as the other popular browser Opera is concerned, the fixes for Opera Mini and Opera Touch browsers are paving the way to tackle the issues and hint at the rollout in offing, as suggested by Opera’s spokesperson Julia Szyndzielorz.

When it comes to UC Browser, the reactions have been otherwise. The makers haven’t indicated any patching to do against these vulnerabilities of browsers found by the researchers. UC Browser along with RITS Browser and Bolt Browser count over 600 million device installations, which makes it even more surprising to find things unmended.

The Way Out So Far

The only way out so far against these deceitful online practices is vigilance. Being vigilant against phishing activities becomes super important to stay as far from the trap as possible. Users must examine the link and be sure whether it is justified or not before they click on it and be misled at the hands of a malicious website. It is recommended to always double-check the sites users load and never overlook if something seems fishy.
