On August 24, 2025, thousands of Airtel users across India faced problems with mobile networks and internet services. Starting around 10:45, individuals began reporting issues on Downdetector, a platform that tracks service outages. By noon, over 7,000 complaints had been recorded, making it clear that this was a nationwide outage.
Users said they could not make phone calls, use mobile internet, or even see a signal on their phone. Many also faced dropped calls and slow or no access to websites and apps. This sudden breakdown affected regular communication, work, online payments, and other daily tasks.
This was not just limited to one region. Individuals in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Chennai were hit the hardest. Other cities like Ahmedabad, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Patna also reported problems.
Many Airtel users complained that they could not work from home, book cabs, or use digital wallets for payments due to the loss of network and internet access.
This outage comes just days after a similar incident on August 18, when more than 3,500 users had reported the same issues. That time too, users had trouble with calls and data access. It is raising concerns among customers about Airtel’s reliability.
Individuals are now wondering why such frequent network problems are happening and if they can trust their service provider during important moments.
According to Downdetector data:
Individuals took to social media (especially X, formerly Twitter) to share their frustrations. Many used the hashtag #AirtelDown, and memes quickly started trending. Some joked about missing important calls, while others were annoyed that their workday was interrupted.
Airtel posted a short message saying there was a temporary issue and that their team was working to fix it quickly. They also suggested that users try restarting their phones to regain network access.
However, Airtel did not share a clear reason for the outage. There was no confirmation whether the problem was due to a technical glitch, a system upgrade, or a network overload.
This lack of transparency has left many users confused and worried about whether it might happen again.
On platforms like Reddit and Twitter, users posted comments like:
“No signal at all. Restarted phone three times, still nothing.”
“Data gone, calls not working. What’s happening with Airtel again?”
“I missed my client call because Airtel decided to vanish again.”
Some users even shared screenshots showing zero signal bars and apps not loading, while others used humor to express their irritation.
